To the shock of many viewers and fans, Netflix just canceled Season 2 of Inside Job after it had renewed it back in June 2022.

Over the weekend, writer Chris Mitchell broke the news about the cancelation, but the tweets were later deleted. Then, creator Shion Takeuchi (Gravity Falls) broke the news on Twitter on Sunday.

Inside Job was a show that told the story of a shadow government and the team behind maintaining the secrets of conspiracy theories. The show followed Reagan Ridley (Lizzy Caplan), who believes the world can be a better place and that she could make a difference. It was created by Takeuchi alongside Alex Hirsch, the creator of Gravity Falls.

Takeuchi wrote on Twitter, saying that: “I’m heartbroken to confirm that Netflix has decided to cancel season 2 of Inside Job. over the years, these characters have become real people to me, and I am devastated not to be able to watch them grow up.”

Inside Job was part of Takeuchi and Hirsch’s development deal with Netflix. It was also the first adult animation series produced by Netflix Animation Studios.

The cancelation comes as a major shock to fans, as the series had been highly regarded and highly praised. Many people compared it to other adult animation legends like Futurama and American Dad. It was also considered one of the best adult animation series available on Netflix.

“Reagan and Brett deserved to get their ending and finally find happiness,” Takeuchi added in her tweet. “And I would have loved to been able to share what was in store with you all.”
