Opera might get its own version of ChatGPT soon

Opera’s web browsers, including Opera GX, may soon receive a ChatGPT upgrade, according to Kunlun Tech, the parent company of Opera.

The Chinese tech firm revealed plans to integrate the popular OpenAI program into its own products, although it is yet to confirm which specific products will receive the upgrade.

Following in the footsteps of Microsoft and Google, who have revealed their own ChatGPT-like products, Baidu and Alibaba are also set to release their versions of the AI program. The rush of tech giants to get their hands on ChatGPT shows its growing popularity in the tech world.

It seems like the AI craze isn’t dying down either. People all over seem to be integrating AI regularly into their lives now. ChatGPT has been the biggest name in the AI world lately. People have been using it to do anything from write articles to essays and even books. Though, it can be limited in scope for some of these complex projects.

Opera currently holds a 3.41% market share in the desktop browser market, the lowest of the major browsers. Integrating its browsers with its own ChatGPT version could increase this percentage, especially if it offers a better user experience than its competitors.

While it remains uncertain which of Kunlun Tech’s products will receive the ChatGPT upgrade, Opera is a likely candidate considering the number of browsers that have already implemented similar AI programs.

However, investing in new technology carries a risk, as seen with the potential for bad actors to cause harm and the spreading of dangerous misinformation. Despite these risks, the integration of ChatGPT has already given a boost to Microsoft Bing and it could do the same for Opera.
