Hollywood director and star Michael Bay, known for his Transformers franchise, is returning to the big screens after resurrecting his old production company ‘Platinum Dunes’.

He’ll be working alongside his former production partner Brad Fuller to revive the company, and has already signed a deal with Universal studios.

Following the deal, Universal president Peter Cramer stated: “Michael Bay is not only one of the world’s preeminent directors, but together with Brad Fuller, he has established Platinum Dunes as one of the most consistently successful and innovative production companies in the industry,”

“We are excited to welcome Michael and Brad to the Universal lot and look forward to building upon their amazing track record at Platinum Dunes for many years to come.”

The company was started back in 2001 by Bay, Fuller, and their other partner Andrew Form, and it would go one to focus mainly on horror films like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Purge, and A Nightmare on Elm Street. The movie studio would see major financial success after it directed A Quiet Place, which made almost $3 billion at the box office.

However, the studio would split up in 2018, with Bay moving on to create Bay Films. Now however, we’re seeing an exciting turn of events for the former studio.

Bay’s most recent film, Ambulance, was a complete failure, making only $51.3 million at the global box office. However, Universal is keen on working alongside Bay.

“Partnering with Donna [Langley], Peter, Jeff [Shell] and the entire team on Ambulance was a great experience, and I can’t wait to work with them on the exciting projects in the Platinum Dunes pipeline,” Bay stated.

“The experience we had with the Universal team on The Purge and Ouija franchises could not have been more collaborative,” said Fuller, “and we are thrilled to formalize our ongoing partnership with this new agreement.”
