Marvel Eternals is quite a new movie. It was published in December of 2021, and I was hoping for something awesome.

But, I was proved wrong. Like, really wrong.

My Review

I am a huge Marvel fan. I especially love their movies and watch them all the time. So, you could say that I was pretty excited for this movie to come out with it being made by Marvel. After watching it though, I was very disappointed. The plot especially was horrible. It felt rushed, odd, and unorganized. All the fight scenes were short, repetitive, and straight out boring. For the premise of the film, I was expecting it to be at least somewhat action packed.

Also, who are these Eternals? Like, they’ve somehow been here the entire time and we were never told? And there’s some guy called Arishem now who is like the supreme leader of the universe? At this point, they’ve turned the entire story haywire.

Arishem

Back to the Eternals. When asked why they hadn’t helped the world before, they said that they were told not to “meddle with human affairs,” like what???? They didn’t help when Thanos was there and that surely wasn’t a human affair. So, in other words, the explanation Marvel used seemed like it was made up in two seconds so they could stop people from asking questions.

It just all kind of seemed sudden and unnecessary.

The length of the movie was around 3 hours long which where definitely wasted. It was all filled with random flashbacks that had no contribution to the story. There were almost no fight scenes and all attempts were lame.

Sersi, the main character added almost nothing to the story until the end where she somehow stopped the Celestial that Arishem planted in Earth by turning it into what, a tree? Then Arishem lifts her and a couple other Eternals up and says some unimportant stuff and suddenly their all missing! WHAT! I definitely did NOT see that one coming. I mean, talk about cliché. Plus, this opens the opportunity for a second movie filled with more useless stuff.

There was about no character development in this film. Most of it was in flashbacks so we didn’t have time to see the character’s change. Druig stayed annoying and self centered, Sersi stayed, well Sersi. Like, I didn’t get to truly SEE the characters enough to talk about their personalities.

In three hours, it’s weird how much was left out.

Also, the death of characters. A ton of characters unnecessarily died.

Genuinely the whole movie was quite unnecessary and I think it was just a way for Marvel to make more money.

Overall Score

Overall, based off of the different characters, the story, and the plot, I give this movie a final score of:

2/10
