Remnant II Walkthrough

please note this walkthrough is still a WIP

This walkthrough will go over all the essential elements you need to know about playing Remnant II. This includes bosses, combat, and more.

Notes Before Starting #

Just a few notes before we get started with this guide. It’s important to note that due to the structure of Remnant II, you may not see the same worlds in the same order as other players. Additionally, there are pieces to the storyline that you may encounter later or earlier than other players. Still, there are a few things that are set in stone with each playthrough that we can cover in this guide.

There are three worlds aside from Ward 13, the Labyrinth and the Root Earth that you will encounter in the game. There is no telling which is which, but we will go through our guide from our perspective and you can jump to the relevant world you’re facing.

Prologue Guide #

Remnant II begins with a short prologue once you’re done customizing your character the way you like. In this area, you will learn a few baseline mechanics to play this game. It’s more of a tutorial section, so just play through it as the game prompts you to.

Remnant II Eastport

Eastport #

The first area in the prologue you will explore is Eastport. In this section, your character and Cass are searching for Ward 13, which is considered one of the remaining sanctuaries on Earth.

For the most part, you will have to follow Cass through part of the map and you’ll come across this building which has a locked door and a set of crates near an open window.

Remnant II

Enter the window by jumping up the set of crates and then unlocking the door for Cass. After that, there’s a bit of dialogue. You can grab some Root Blood here and use it to heal your injured leg.

The next part is to reach the sewer.

Sewer in Eastport Remnant II

You’ll go down a ladder and be met with a bit of a fight against some Root monsters.

You’ll get injured and downed in this area, which will prompt a cutscene. This is when you meet a few characters who will save you and Cass and take you to Ward 13.

After the cutscene, you have to go through more of the sewer and fight against more of those Root monsters.

You’ll come upon the first boss fight of this game now, which is fighting against the Root Mantis.

Root Mantis Boss Fight #

The Root Mantis boss fight is relatively simple and acts as more of a tutorial boss fight. The Root Mantis strikes mainly with melee attacks and rolls around to attack you. The best way to defeat it is to dodge out of the way of its attacks and get at a safe distance to shoot at it.

Defeating the Root Mantis drops Root Ganglia, which you will need to obtain mods for your weapons.

This boss fight also shows you how co-op is like where you have multiple players fighting alongside you. Now, the other players are the NPCs you met earlier, but if you play in co-op it will probably be something like this.

Keep in mind that you can just play the game alone if you don’t want to play with other people.

Ward 13 Guide #

Now that you’ve made it to Ward 13, you’ll have some dialogue with Bo, the mayor of Ward 13. From here, you need to go see the Founder, Ford. You can check the map for the prompts on where to go. The closer you get to your location, you’ll see a white icon like in the image above that shows you where you need to go.

After talking to Ford, you’re prompted to go talk to Wallace, who is close to the top of a crane system a bit away from where Ford is.

Wallace will tell you about a path that you need to take, and this is where you can pick which class of fighter you want. We get into the specifics on this in our guide on the different archetypes you can pick. The default starter options are this:

  • Medic
  • Handler
  • Hunter
  • Challenger

You will be able to unlock more as you go throughout the game.

After picking your archetype, you have to go talk to two characters: Brabus and McCabe. You can check the map to see where the two are.

Talking to Brabus will prompt you to go talk to Rigs, who will help you with gear upgrades.

Once you talk to Rigs, you’ll be able to upgrade a weapon of your choice. You probably won’t have enough material at this point to upgrade more than one weapon, so pick the weapon that you would like to upgrade the most. If you want to get material for weapons upgrades like iron and scrap, you can obtain that throughout the levels that you will play through. These items are scattered usually around the map.

After Rigs, you should talk to McCabe, who will help you get weapons mods.

Weapons mods are like a sort of “magic” system in the game that gives your weapons unique and cool powerups. You can pick a mod to start that you think is the best. Remember that Root Ganglia from the Root Mantis fight? You can use that now to get your first weapon mod.

Once that’s done, go back to talk to Ford.

At this point, you will be leaving Ward 13 and starting your first world. Recall that we said earlier that you may get different worlds, so we will go through the worlds here in this guide.
