Top Gun: Maverick is one of the biggest movies of 2022, and has been a global box office smash success for several months. Many fans are wondering when they can get a chance to stream Top Gun: Maverick on Paramount+, and that’s a valid question.

Top Gun: Maverick will be available to watch on Paramount+ on December 22, 2022. Typically, Paramount releases are available to watch 45 days after the theatrical premiere. That wasn’t the case for this cinematic hit.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount released a statement regarding Top Gun: Maverick, writing, “Paramount+ today announced the #1 film of 2022, Top Gun: Maverick, will be available to stream globally on the service beginning Thursday, Dec. 22 in the U.S., as well as in Canada, Australia, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy and previously announced markets – the U.K. and Latin America. It will be available in South Korea and France in 2023.”

Top Gun: Maverick was directed by Joseph Kosinski and had Tom Cruise reprise his role from the original film. The film has grossed over $1.4 billion in the box office, the highest of the year. It is also Tom Cruise’s most successful and highest-grossing film ever.

The movie was designed to be a theatrical experience, however. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit and movies started going to streaming directly at several studios, Tom Cruise firmly stated that Top Gun: Maverick wouldn’t get that same treatment. Rather, it would be pushed back for as long as need be until the movie theater industry recovered.
