Disney has revealed some important information about the upcoming Disney+ Star Wars show, The Acolyte, including the official cast.
We already knew that Amandla Stenberg (The Hate U Give) was going to be in The Acolyte, and she will be joined by Emmy Award-winning actor Lee Jung-jae (Squid Game), Manny Jacinto (Nine Perfect Strangers), Dafne Keen (His Dark Materials), Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen & Slim), Rebecca Henderson (Inventing Anna), Charlie Barnett (Russian Doll), Dean-Charles Chapman (1917), and Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix).
The Acolyte is set to be a mystery-thriller that shows the final days of the High Republic and what Disney describes to be the “emerging dark-side powers.”
The story will follow a Padawan who reunites with her Jedi Master but the two will face forces that “are more sinister than they ever anticipated.”
The High Republic is an era that takes place centuries before Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. It was the height of the Jedi Order as well.
The Acolyte is currently under production, with Leslye Headland (Russian Doll) at the helm as creator, showrunner, and executive producer. Alongside Headland are Kathleen Kennedy, Simon Emanuel, Jeff F. King, and Jason Micallef as executive producers. Rayne Roberts and Damian Anderson are producing.
Headland is also set to direct the pilot episode for The Acolyte.
When it releases, The Acolyte will stream exclusively on Disney+.
