Star Wars: Andor has been one of Disney+’s most highly anticipated shows for the past few months and now we get to see a new look into the show!

The image revealed by Total Film Magazine shows Cassian Andor, the main character played by Diego Luna, talking to an alien-like bartender is a dark, bluely-lit cantina.

The show will take place about five years before Andor’s role, and death, in 2017’s Rogue One. Apparently, the shot of Cassian takes place during a period of extreme development for the character, where he is “as far as you can imagine away” from his personality in Rogue One.

In the magazine excerpt Luna discusses the shifting dynamic of Andor’s personality:

I had already answered many of the questions that the show answers myself, for my process as an actor for Rogue One. Now, I had the chance to explore that with [showrunner] Tony [Gilroy], who’s an amazing collaborator and beautiful writer.

The actor then discusses a scene from Rogue One that helped him when it came to establishing the new spinoff show. In the scene Andor and Jyn Erso argued back and forth about who’s life was more difficult, before Andor revealed he had been fighting since six years old. Luna continued:

We find him in a place where he’s not aware of how capable he is of transforming or being part of change or executing such a sacrifice, but he is the man that comes out from fighting since he was six years old. He’s a very interesting, dark, wounded person. You’re not going to believe that he’s capable of what he does in Rogue One.

Andor will be released on Disney+ on August 31st. We’re excited to see it and we hope you are too!
