The Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) has held a launch event for Matter in Amsterdam, showcasing Matter’s partners and products.

Matter is launching with strong industry support, with the CSA adding that 190 products have been certified or already in the certification process on top of the unveiled ones.

Matter is a new attempt to create one standard for connected devices. Support for Matter has been strong so far, with over 4,000 downloads of its specifications and over 2,500 downloads of the Matter software development kit (SDK).

The CSA has test centers in nine countries to help certify products. Additionally, it has support from giants like Amazon, Apple, Google, Samsung, and more.

Amazon announced that there are over 30,000 Words with Alexa (WWA) products that are compatible with many protocols, including Matter. Additionally, support for Matter will be provided in the Echo and eero devices.

Currently, 17 Echo devices will be Matter ready in Android by the end of 2022. Support for iOS and the remaining device will arrive in early 2023.

Signify has announced that all of its WiZ products will be compatible with Matter. Philips also stated that its products would be compatible with Matter.

Nanoleaf announced that four new products in its lineup will be Matter compatible (A19, GU10, BR30 Bulbs, and a Lightstrip).

Matter support will create less complexities for consumers, with more products and categories to be announced over the coming year.
