Google has now announced a new Gmail feature that will let you track packages.

Just in time for the holiday season, as people begin to order more and more gifts and items, package tracking is an important thing for many. Google’s new feature will now allow for an easier system to track packages without even having to open the email.

In the coming weeks, Gmail will begin placing a small green indicator in the inbox that shows when a package has shipped and when it’s expected to arrive.

Tapping on the email allows for you to see more information like a link to track the package from the shipper as well as the details of the order. It will also provide the status of the package, such as “arriving tomorrow.” Additionally, it will tell you if a delay has occurred.

The option will not be turned on by default, but Google will provide a pop-up that lets you choose to allow the status updates if you want them.

If you end up changing your mind and don’t want to use the feature anymore, you can just turn it off in settings.
