Cyberpunk 2077 resurgence has its quest director excited

Cyberpunk 2077 has been seeing a major resurgence in players, and it looks like it has more than players excited. The team at CD Projekt Red is also very excited.

Pawel Sasko, the quest director for Cyberpunk 2077, spoke to his fans on his Twitch Channel (via GamesRadar), giving insight into how it’s felt to him to see the game still alive after its original launch with so many players logging in every day.

“It’s hard to express, when you’re putting so much heart and work into something. And you know for some of us it’s been six, seven, eight years sometimes, especially for those who started at the very beginning. So, to have this moment, of people liking something that we did, it’s really feeling a bit unreal. That people are finally appreciating it.”

Back when Cyberpunk 2077 launched on December 10, 2020, the game was met with a slew of criticism due to its disastrous bugs and glitches. The base PS4 and Xbox One saw the worst of it. The problem became so intense, that Sony delisted the game and began offering refunds. CD Projekt Red also offered refunds to those who purchased the game.

In June 2021, Sony relisted the game with a warning that it was best played on the PlayStation Pro and the PlayStation 5. Back in February 2022, CD Projekt Red finally released the upgraded PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of Cyberpunk 2077.

With patches and the recent release of Netflix’s Edgerunners anime, people have been finding their interest renewed in Cyberpunk 2077.

Sasko added in his stream that “after the release, I couldn’t believe — after some time, I did — but at the beginning I couldn’t believe and I remember […] my dear girlfriend, she was seeing me f**king completely wrecked. But it’s good to be back. It’s f**king good to be back. That was really so heartbreaking.”

Cyberpunk 2077 is also getting its only DLC expansion, Phantom Liberty, in the coming months. However, the expansion will only be available on PC and next-gen consoles.
