Cyberpunk 2077 has sold 20 million copies

Cyberpunk 2077 has just hit a milestone of 20 million copies sold, according to CD Projekt Red. This number is up from the 18 million copies reported as sold in April.

The figure comes about just after Cyberpunk 2077 saw a massive resurgence due to the success of Netflix’s anime, Edgerunners, the 1.6 Patch, and many other announcements.

Cyberpunk 2077 saw one of the biggest launches in the video game industry, despite it being rocky and disastrous. 8 million copies were sold through preorders alone, with 13 million total copies sold by December 2020.

Cyberpunk 2077 had been in development turmoil for some time prior to its launch, however. Several delays, followed by bugs and glitches led to refunds and the game even being removed from the PlayStation store for several months.

However, with patches and updates, it looks like Cyberpunk 2077 has finally gotten a resurgence in players. CD Projekt Red reported that 1 million players logged in daily to Cyberpunk 2077. It’s made their team excited about the future of Cyberpunk 2077.

The next major update for Cyberpunk 2077 is set to be the Phantom Liberty DLC, which will be the first and last expansion for the game and will release on PC and next-gen consoles only.
