2022’s Sonic The Hedgehog 2 has surpassed over $400 million at the global box office, reaching another milestone this weekend.

Around half of the $400 million comes from overseas markets, while $190 million is from domestic viewership. The studio has yet to release the film in Japan and Hong Kong, meaning it will most certainly make more with time.

As things stand about $209 million come from Mexico, Brazil, France, The UK, and Australia. The sequel film has done much better than its prequel counterpart, Sonic, which made around $320 million globally. The original film was release during the pandemic era however, which most likely explains the major difference, as it got high ratings too.

Sonic 3 is scheduled for 2024, and the studio plans to release a live-action show based around Sonic character ‘Knuckles.’
