James Cameron’s Avatar is heading back to the big screen on September 23, this time in 4K High Dynamic Range presentation. It’s coming back just in time for the long-awaited sequel, Avatar: The Way of the Water. However, the original film has been removed from Disney+ for the time being.
However, it should be returning to the subscription service at some point in the future before the release of Avatar: The Way of the Water on December 16. It also isn’t an uncommon or unlikely move for movies to be removed from streaming services while they play in theaters again.
Avatar is a movie about a disabled marine from the 22nd century Earth named Jake Sully. Sully goes to the fictional moon of Pandora as a part of a military operation. While there, he falls in love with a member of the Na’vi species named Neytiri. He then rebels against the humans in order to protect Pandora.
The sequel, Avatar: The Way of the Water, will follow after the events of the first film. The story is set to be about Jake and Neytiri’s family and their fight for survival after humans return to Pandora. The sequel sees some cast members from the first return, including Sigourney Weaver. There will also be many underwater scenes.
