Assassin's Creed Mirage is getting a Historical Feature in-game

One of the biggest things about Assassin’s Creed is the fact that it’s traveled throughout history to give us amazing stories and adventures. Ubisoft has also announced that Assassin’s Creed Mirage will get a historical feature called the History of Baghdad. This feature will give players the ability to explore one of the most historically significant cities as they progress through the campaign.

Assassin’s Creed has previously had Discovery modes that walk you through a separate mode in order to uncover the history behind the time periods. Assassin’s Creed Origins and Odyssey both featured these Discovery modes. However, Assassin’s Creed Mirage integrates this into the game. It will not require players to enter a different mode.

Similar to older Assassin’s Creed titles, an in-game codex will serve to explain the history of Baghdad during the Abbasid Caliphate.

Dr. Raphael Weyland, the historian working on Mirage at Ubisoft Montreal, said that: “From the start we had an ambitious premise: to help the players better understand the world of ninth-century Baghdad, a world that is seldom represented in popular culture.

“In the pursuit of this lofty goal, we were given the freedom to choose what topics we wanted to tackle. We just had to make sure that what we wanted to describe existed in the world of Assassin’s Creed Mirage.”

How the History Feature Will Work

When you play through Assassin’s Creed Mirage, you will have about 66 historical sites across the map that you can explore. In coordination with partner museums, the database includes real historical images.

You will be able to learn about things like the language, beliefs, culture, economy, and everyday life of people in ninth-century Baghdad. Ubisoft also confirmed that collecting the entries unlocks a reward for Basim.

Weyland continued, saying, “I am proud that we did not shy away from any subject, discussing sensitive and misrepresented concepts such as the harem, the role of eunuchs, and slavery in a nuanced way.

“I am also happy that we managed to incorporate some humor in the entries on Table Manners or Market Inspectors. After all, history can also be funny and light-hearted.”

Here’s an example of what we can expect to see from this Historical Feature in Assassin’s Creed Mirage:
