British television personality Piers Morgan has defended Beatles singer Paul McCartney, 80, in a fiery statement after critics bashed him for not including enough Beatles songs in his performance in Glastonbury.

Saturday’s show in Glastonbury England was hailed by critics as an amazing concert, featuring the likes of Paul McCartney, Dave Grohl, Bruce Springsteen, and a virtual version of John Lennon. Many of the star appearances were completely by surprise, shocking many of the long-time Beatles fans.

The concert impressed British TV host Piers Morgan, so much that he went to Twitter to celebrate it.

“Sir Paul McCartney rocking Glastonbury, at nearly midnight, at the age of 80, playing some of the greatest songs in music history with the enthusiasm of a teenager. Brilliant,” he said on the app.

However, not everyone was impressed. Many online were incredibly angered by the lack of more Beatles songs, and as a result were annoyed by and bored of the concert.

Clearly, Morgan was bothered by the strong disapproval of irate fans, telling critics to: “shut the f**k up”.

“Twitter’s moaning Macca ‘didn’t do enough Beatles hits. He played Can’t Buy Me Love, Love Me Do, I Saw Her Standing There, Lady Madonna, Blackbird, Get Back, Something, Let It Be, and Hey Jude.

“Those songs alone are nine of the greatest pop songs ever. Twitter.. STFU.”

The festival can be watched from BBC’s iPlayer.
