Gaming setups are a popular thing in the world today, as gaming continues to get popular. However, it’s hard figuring out what exactly should go into a good PC gaming setup. Nowadays, you can search all over the internet and you may not find the answer.
There is one important thing to any gaming setup though, and that’s injecting your personality into it. Your desk is your space and you should be able to put into it what makes you…well, you!
So, let’s get this list started:
1. A PC or Laptop
Obviously, you need the first thing that makes a PC gaming setup a PC gaming setup. You can use either a laptop or a PC, but there will be a bit of a difference in the two.
Firstly, a laptop is best used with a laptop stand, which you don’t need for a gaming PC. Desktop PCs are significantly larger than laptops though, so you’ll need to allot more space for a desktop.
There are plenty of prebuilt gaming PCs but you can get your own PC parts. However, if you want to get a prebuilt, we recommend Origin PC for that. Origin PC is a very credible and very reputable service that has some of the best PCs and PC gaming accessories on the market.
If you want a gaming laptop, we recommend checking out Best Buy for some great deals on gaming laptops.
2. A Keyboard and Mouse
The next most important thing is a keyboard and mouse. Often shorted to KBM, a keyboard and mouse pair are essential to having the ultimate PC gaming setup.
There are many options out there, with some being on the budget side and some on the cheap side. We personally recommend the Corsair K100 RGB keyboard, but a great budget option would be the Logitech G213.
Gaming mice are also wide and vast, but we always recommend the Logitech G502 Hero for both starters and experienced PC gamers. It’s one of the best, and always highly rated.
3. A Monitor
A monitor is also very important if you have a desktop PC. You can use a monitor for a laptop as well, so it works both ways.
A monitor can really make a difference in your in-game performance. We recommend looking for options that have at least a minimum of 144Hz refresh rates. Any lower than that and you’ll notice the difference.
One option that we recommend is the LG UltraGear. It’s a great option for any gaming setup.
4. Speakers
Speakers are important if your monitor doesn’t have a built-in speaker. Even if it does, they’re usually not that loud, so you’d be better off investing in a good set of speakers.
There are plenty of budget options that are great for a gaming setup and look sleek as well. There are also some more cool ones, like the Cyberacoustics set that comes with a subwoofer and LED lights.
5. Gaming Headset
A good setup needs a gaming headset for when you’re playing multiplayer or everyone else is asleep. We personally recommend the Logitech G733 wireless gaming headset, as it has a great mic and some awesome features.
There are also many wireless and wired options, so depending on what you prefer, you can take your pick. Usually, wireless headsets are more convenient, especially if you tend to move around a lot.
6. Mousepad
A mousepad is also equally vital for a gaming setup, especially if your desk surface is not very good with mice.
A mousepad allows for a decent amount of friction so that you can effectively play your games. The bigger the mousepad, the more room you’ll have to play. Bigger mousepads are especially useful for people who use a lower DPI on their mouse.
Smaller mousepads are great for people who go for a more minimalist look for their desk.
7. A Desk
Well, we saved the most important part for last, but you’ll need a desk. Yeah, I know, we wish our objects could just float in air as well, but unfortunately, gravity exists.
You can go for standing desks or regular desks. We find that standing desks are very useful, as it’s extremely unhealthy to be sitting down all day and not getting some level of movement in. You can check out FlexiSpot for their standing desks.
8. A Chair
This is also an important addition to a gaming setup, as you need a place to sit, of course. You can go for a gaming chair or a standard office chair or whatever else you want.
However, if you’re going to go for a gaming chair, you should check out Clutch Chairz. They worked with big gaming names like Pewdiepie even and they have some great colors and designs for their chairs.
Conclusions
We’ve just listed the basics of a gaming setup, but what’s next is up to you. At this point, customize your desk to heart’s desire. Add posters, decorations, toys, etc… whatever you need to make yourself feel at home.
