Tim Allen, the Hollywood star who voiced Toy Story character Buzz Lightyear in all four films is speaking out on Disney’s latest flop Lightyear, in which he didn’t act.

During an interview with Extra He stated that the new film failed because it “a whole new team that really have nothing to do with the first movies.”

The actor used to be on board with the concept of a spin-off film for the beloved space ranger, when the idea was brought up a few years ago amongst Pixar creatives, saying that: “As I’ve said a long time ago, we talked about this many years ago. It came up in one of the sessions; I said what a fun movie that would be.”

Lightyear is a Disney-Pixar film directed by Angus MacLane that came out this year and failed big-time at the box office. Buzz Lightyear’s actor changed voices from Allen to Chris Evans for the film, disappointing many long-time fans. One of them was Patricia Heaton, who attacked the film before it was even released due to this decision.

“The brass that did the first four movies, it’s just a whole new team that really have nothing to do with the first movies,” Allen told the interviewer. Allen was originally expecting a live-action film over an animated on, and that “there’s really no Toy Story’s Buzz without Woody.”

“As I see, it’s not a big adventure story. It’s a wonderful story. It just doesn’t seem to have any connection to the toy. It has no relationship to Buzz. It’s just no connection. I wish there was a better connection.”

The movie has barely made anything globally when compared to films like Top Gun: Maverick and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
