Ubisoft’s Splinter Cell remake, which is in production at Ubisoft Toronto, will reportedly be rewritten to be more relevant to a ”modern-day audience.”

PSU spotted a job listing for a scriptwriter, which seems to reveal some details about the upcoming Splinter Cell remake.

”Using the first Splinter Cell game as our foundation we are rewriting and updating the story for a modern-day audience. We want to keep the spirit and themes of the original game while exploring our characters and the world to make them more authentic and believable.”

Splinter Cell was originally released back in 2002 and centered around an NSA black ops agent named Sam Fisher. He is tasked with investigating the disappearance of two CIA agents, but quickly finds himself in the middle of a political crisis that may lead to a global war. Sam Fisher must help avert the crisis, with the game placing heavy emphasis on stealth.

It’s not clear exactly how the story and crisis will be rewritten, but the job posting adds: ”As a scriptwriter at Ubisoft Toronto, you will join the Narrative team and help create a cohesive and compelling narrative experience for a new audience of Splinter Cell fans.”

The remake was originally announced last year, but since then, not much information has been revealed by Ubisoft as to what players can expect to see.
