Resident Evil is Netflix's worst reviewed show in history

With few critics giving positive reviews on the new Resident Evil adaptation by Netflix, audiences don’t seem to be agreeing. In fact, Rotten Tomatoes scores reveal that audiences are very angry with the new adaptation. It currently has some of the worst user ratings for a Netflix show ever.

On Rotten Tomatoes, it’s sitting at a mediocre 53%, but the audience scores are significantly more brutal. Currently, audiences rate Netflix’s Resident Evil at 25%. It doesn’t take a second glance to realize that both scores are low.

It’s also sitting at a 3.5/10 on IDMB. And a 1.6 on Metacritic.

Yikes.

There are obvious reasons as to why the user reviews are so low. Aside from the common review bombing excuse, the show is genuinely just that bad. For a video game adaptation, it doesn’t seem to be looking to its video game much.

The Netflix adaptation also seems to be trying to focus on teen audiences, but in their attempt to do that, it’s just cringe-inducing.

Although I’m not the biggest fan of Resident Evil out there, I can still recognize that the show is bad. If you’re no fan of Resident Evil, then the stakes to watch this are pretty much nonexistent. There are plenty of much better shows out there that tackle the zombie-survival story, and it’s not really worth much watching this one.

It’s also not the first time in recent months that a show based off of a video game has flopped with its audience. The recent Halo TV show also did bad with its viewership, with many annoyed at Master Chief’s character changes and the story in general.

It seems like TV show writers don’t even want to reference their source material these days.
