New study shows alcohol is unsafe for those below age 40

A new study funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has revealed that people under the age of 40 risk their health if they drink alcohol.

The analysis was part of a wide study called the Global Burden of Disease and was published in The Lancer medical journal on Thursday.

The study reveals that for young adults between the ages of 15 and 39, there are no health benefits in drinking alcohol. In fact, there are only risks associated with the practice. The findings in the study reveal that 60% of global drinkers fall into this age group.

The researchers stated that the amount of alcohol consumed before risking health would be “a little more than one-tenth of a standard drink.” The study defined a standard drink as being 3.4 fluid ounces of red wine or 12 fluid ounces of beer.

Essentially, the practice of drinking alcohol is unsafe for those below the age of 40.

The study also affirms previous studies by other institutes. A study at Oxford University showed that there was “no safe dose of alcohol” when it came to brain health. Another study in Ireland concluded that alcohol may also pose more risks to the heart than previously thought.
