Netflix

Netflix has joined the modern-day trend of comic-film revitalizations with their newest upcoming BioShock movie.

BioShock was a steampunk-style first person shooter released back in 2007. The game grew a cult-following and quickly won multiple awards. It became so popular, in fact, that a movie was planned for a release through the early 2000’s, but that idea never came to fruition.

However the concept is back on the development table as Netflix plans on releasing a BioShock-themed movie at some point in the near future. The movie will begin directing as soon as Francis Lawrence finishes filming his newest film, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.

Not many details are known about the game-based film as of now however we do know that the newest Hunger Games prequel film will release in mid November of 2023, meaning we probably won’t be seeing the new Netflix film for quite a while.

Alongside this announcement more games are being turned into films from other studios. Days Gone, a popular 2019 zombie survival game, is getting its own film produced by Sony. Although details are unknown the movie will most likely be directed by Sam Heughan of Outlander. Gravity Rush, Comix Zone, and Space Channel 5 are all entering development as well.
