Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, has said that if the Microsoft acquisition of Activision Blizzard goes through that Call of Duty will continue to ship on PlayStation.

Speaking on the Same Brain YouTube channel, Spencer said that: “We’re not taking Call of Duty from PlayStation. That’s not our intent. Our intent is not to do that and as long as there’s a PlayStation out there to ship to, our intent is that we’ll continue to ship Call of Duty on PlayStation. Similar to what we’ve done with Minecraft since we owned that.”

Spencer explains that the biggest changes would be more games coming to Game Pass and that he’d like to see Call of Duty on the Nintendo Switch.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has become the biggest PlayStation Store launch ever for a Call of Duty game, including preorders and day one sales.

PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan said earlier this year that Microsoft only offered three more years for Call of Duty to stay on PlayStation after existing agreements expire, however Spencer continues to state that Call of Duty will not be leaving PlayStation consoles.

The acquisition is currently being investigated by antitrust authorities, including the UK Competition and Markets authority. Brazil has approved of the acquisition already, stating its goal is to protect consumer interests and not PlayStation’s interests.
