Papers, Please, the “dystopian document thriller” is coming to iOS and Android on August 5 as a paid app. The game launched back in August 2013 for Windows PC with an iPad version launching in 2014 and a PlayStation Vita port in 2017.

The announcement was made by indie game developer Lucas Pope, who joked that Papers, Please was “on track for a console release in 2031.”

Papers, Please takes place in the fictional world of Arstotzka, a country based off of a Soviet-era nation. The premise of the game is that the player must take the role of an immigration officer who must check traveler documents and follow countless, changing rules and regulations. Each day comes with a new challenge and a new change, and each playthrough can have a different outcome.

Pope stated that the mobile port would have an interface for smaller screens. “No zooming. My vision is terrible and I wanted the game to feel natural on a phone.”

He also stated that there would be an update to the 2014 iPad version, with iOS 11 being the minimum supported iOS. No word on what version of Android is required was stated yet. Additionally, no price was released yet.

For fans of Papers, Please, this may prove to be an exciting development. Now, you can take the world of Arstotzka wherever you go.
