Netflix addresses the deaths of 2 actors on the set of 'The Chosen One'

A recent fatal car crash on the set of an upcoming Netflix show, ‘The Chosen One,’ left 2 actors dead and 6 crew members injured. Netflix has now released a statement regarding the incident.

The two actors, Raymundo Garduno (Paco Mufote) and Juan Francisco Aguilar, were killed in a van connected to the production crashed in Mexico’s Baja California peninsula last Thursday. The incident was said to have occurred in transit from Santa Rosalia to a local airport.

On Monday, Netflix said in a statement that “We are deeply saddened by the tragic accident that took the lives of Ray Garduno and Juan Francisco Gonzalez. Our thoughts are with their loved ones and with those injured during this unfortunate accident.”

The independent production company, Redrum, has temporarily halted production on ‘The Chosen One,’ a show telling the story of a 12-year-old boy who discovers that he is the reincarnation of Jesus Christ and must save humanity.

In its own statement, Redrum said: “We are deeply saddened by the passing of our colleagues Ray Garduno and Juan Francisco Gonzalez are are closely supporting all those affected by this unspeakable tragedy. Redrum has been cooperating with local authorities and initial reports and accounts from witnesses indicate that all safety protocols were in place and this was an unfortunate accident.”

Some close to the actors have alleged to media outlets that Mufote had complained of poor working conditions prior to his death.
