Lisa Marie Presley is dead at 54 following a heart attack

Singer-songwriter Lisa Marie Presley, the only child of Elvis Presley, has died at the age of 54.

As reported by Variety, Presley had been hospitalized on Thursday, January 12 after suffering cardiac arrest in her home in Calabasas, California. She was rushed to the hospital and had CPR performed on her by paramedics, but died shortly after.

“Priscilla Presley and the Presley family are shocked and devastated by the tragic death of their beloved Lisa Marie,” a family statement reads. “They are profoundly grateful for the support, love and prayers of everyone, and ask for privacy during this very difficult time.”

Lisa Marie and her mother Priscilla were in attendance at the 80th Golden Globe awards. They were able to see Austin Butler win the Golden Globe for his performance as Elvis in the 2022 film. They also attended a pre-Globe party where the “family honored what would have been the King of Rock ‘n Roll’s 88th birthday.”

Lisa Marie Presley was born on February 1, 1968 in Memphis, Tennessee. She was the only child of Elvis and Priscilla Presley who divorced when she was just five years old. Elvis passed away when she was just nine.

When Lisa Marie turned 25, she inherited Presley’s entire estate, including his mansion in Graceland. She did end up selling 85% of the estate ($100 million) to Industrial Media in 2005 but kept control of Graceland.

Lisa Marie became a singer-songwriter and released her first album, “To Whom It May Concern” back in 2003. It was a certified gold album followed up with “Now What” and “Storm & Grace.”

Lisa Marie was married four times. Her husbands included Danny Keough, Michael Jackson, Nicolas Cage, and Michael Lockwood. She had four children. Her daughter Riley Keough starred in movies like Zola and Mad Max: Fury Road. Her son, Benjamin Keough, passed away in 2020 due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Lisa had been involved in charity work through the Elvis Presley Charitable Foundation, Oprah Winfrey’s Angel Network, and the Dream Factory.

She is survived by mother Priscilla, her three daughters, and half-brother Navarone Garibaldi.
