Naked Gun

Seth McFarlane has begun to discuss the possibility of Liam Neeson starring in Paramount’s newest film, a remake of Naked Gun.

He will be leading the film if he accepts the role, according to Variety. Akiva Schaffer, the director behind Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers will be directing and producing the movie, and has written the film’s script alongside Dan Gregor and Doug Mand, the writers behind Chip ‘n Dale.

Neeson mentioned the possibility of starring in the film after telling People about the potential role.

“It’ll either finish my career or bring it in another direction. I honestly don’t know,” the Hollywood star stated.

Paramount’s trilogy, Naked Gun, premiered back in the 1980’s and 1990’s and starred Leslie Nielsen as the lead, playing the role of Franklin Drebin a gullible but lighthearted detective. The 1988 release earned $140 million at the box office, and two films were released following, each 3 years apart.

Back in 2013 Paramount attempted to remake the series, attempting to reboot it with Ed Helms playing the lead role, but those plans were scrapped. Now however, things are different and a new movie is on the way, although we have no current information on when it’s releasing nor on its plot or cast.

Neeson will be playing in Blacklight, which will be premiering at the theaters this weekend. It’s his most recent role, after starring in a plethora of quarantine-era action flicks, like The Marksman and The Ice Road. He’ll also be starring in the new film Memory, yet again another action film.
