John Wick: Chapter 4 was an action movie masterpiece

John Wick is a franchise that I think has no bad entries to it, and the success and popularity of its most recent instalment seems to prove just that. John Wick: Chapter 4 released on March 24 this year and since then, it’s been so successful that Lionsgate wants to work with Keanu Reeves on another John Wick movie. I would not be apprehensive to such an idea.

Sitting at 94% on Rotten Tomatoes, John Wick: Chapter 4 had our main protagonist speak barely under 400 words and yet, it was one of my favorite action movies ever made.

But what makes John Wick: Chapter 4 so damn good? Let’s take a look:

Amazing Action Choreography

John Wick has pretty much been one of my favorite franchises because of the choreographed action sequences that are actually brilliantly designed. Each sequence feels methodical, almost like a video game in a way, but with some flair and expression that works really well.

Throughout Chapter 4, John Wick faces off against all sorts of enemies from armored enemies to standard video game style grunts. Not only that, but Wick himself is practically invincible. You’re not thinking about the protagonist getting downed at any one second — all you care about is how John Wick is gonna beat up the next guy.

There were several settings throughout John Wick: Chapter 4 that were very memorable: From the Continental in Osaka, Japan to the club in Berlin, there’s something about the choices made in this film that worked really, really well.

I particularly liked the ending in France when John Wick was fighting through hordes and swarms of bad guys just to get to the Sacre Coeur. When he started using that shotgun with Dragon’s Breath bullets, all I could think about was my flashbacks to playing Shipment in Modern Warfare 2019.

A Strong, Silent Protagonist is Sometimes Better

A lot of the times, I think some action movies try too hard to give some sort of deep messages in the film when in reality, it’s literally just an action movie. John Wick is a pure action flick: It’s literally a guy shooting people for over two hours each time. That’s all you’re there to see anyways.

I liked that the entire premise of John Wick is basically an exaggerated action plot. The first movie only happened because his dog got killed and his car got stolen. That’s basically it. Then, everything after that is a consequence of that one move in the first instalment.

There’s no deep storyline. That’s it. And it’s perfect. John Wick is like the Call of Duty of action movies: It’s pretty much the same every time, and you want to watch it every single time.

And I love Call of Duty, so yeah.

John Wick: Chapter 4’s Cast was AMAZING

When I went in to watch John Wick: Chapter 4, I’ll be honest, I had no clue who was going to be in the movie. And I left absolutely floored by the amount of actors that I absolutely loved being in this movie. Bill Skarsgård, Donnie Yen… I mean, seriously, that was amazing! The cast are all fantastic actors and all of them worked so well in conjunction with the movie.

It was perfect. Absolutely perfect.

Go and Watch John Wick if you Haven’t Yet!

If you’re one of those people that hasn’t seen John Wick yet, stop what you’re doing and go watch it! I seriously recommend it, because John Wick is a gem in the action movie genre. GO WATCH IT!
