Jeremy Renner in critical but stable condition following surgery over sustained injuries from snowplow accident

Hawkeye star Jeremy Renner is still recovering from surgery after suffering “blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries” during a snow plowing accident at Lake Tahoe in Nevada.

As of Monday evening, Renner is in the ICU in “critical but stable condition,” a spokesperson for the actor confirmed.

The 51-year-old Marvel star has undergone two surgeries thus far to address the injuries sustained in the accident.

Jeremy Renner was hospitalized on Sunday after an accident occurred involving his snow plow as he was clearing out snow about a quarter mile from his home.

Emergency services responded to a “traumatic injury” involving Renner, who was later airlifted to the hospital.

Police have not yet given any details on how the accident occurred, but its Major Accident Investigation Team is looking into the circumstances of the incident. TMZ reported that the location is being treated as an active crime scene.

Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve told the Reno Gazette Journal on Monday that Renner had been helping a stranded motorist when the accident occurred.

“He was helping someone stranded in the snow,” Schieve said. “He is always helping others.”

Parts of western Nevada, including Reno, had been hit by massive amounts of snow over New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Up to 18 inches of snow fell at areas of higher elevation.

Renner had shared multiple videos and photos on social media showing him in the snow conditions. He had also posted a video on Instagram two weeks ago showing him driving the snowplow.

Renner’s family released a statement on Monday evening thanking hospital staff and the first responders.

“Jeremy’s family would like to express their gratitude to the incredible doctors and nurses looking after him, Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue, Washoe County Sheriff, Reno City Mayor Hillary Schieve and the Carano and Murdock families,” a statement from his spokesperson read. “They are also tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans.”
