How to beat the Scrapped Watchman in Lies of P

The Scrapped Watchman was the last boss you could fight in the demo of Lies of P, but he’s been tweaked a bit since in the final version of the game. He’s also a pretty aggressive and tough boss, so naturally, you will probably be a bit stumped on how to fight him. So, here are some ways you can beat the Scrapped Watchman easily.

Check out our guide to beating Mad Donkey!

The Scrapped Watchman Fighting Style

First, let’s talk about what the Scrapped Watchman’s fighting style is like. He’s a very aggressive and very fast boss and he has a lot of intense sweeping attacks that you need to note.

The boss fight comes in two phases. Phase 1 consists mainly of arm attacks and sweep blows. Occasionally, he will jump around and try to smash you with his fists.

Phase 2 comes about when you’ve taken about half of his life. In this part of the boss fight, you need to be careful of his electricity attacks. He will initiate this phase by unleashing a lot of electricity, so DODGE AND RUN!

He also has a grabbing attack that YOU CANNOT PARRY. Avoid this like the plague. When he gears his left arm (from your perspective) in a spinning motion, dodge as fast as you possibly can because you may not be able to survive this attack at all.

His “red attacks” can be perfect blocked but… you should probably just dodge them. Timing a perfect block on these powerful attacks can be rough at times.

How to Beat the Scrapped Watchman

First, before you summon a Specter, try to fight him yourself a few times. This way, you’ll be able to anticipate what attacks he will use on you and how you can counter them.

In the first phase of the fight, you will need to use Perfect Blocks a lot. The perfect blocks can be done by timing your block just right.

Doing them in a row will get you into a comfortable spot where the health bar will turn white. At this point, you should use a charged attack. The charged attack will then stagger the boss and you step into a red circle where you deal a fatal attack. This will knock a good amount of his health down.

You should aim to perfect block and then get in at least two hits. You should do this for most of Phase 1 of this boss fight. Don’t get overconfident with your attacks. Two hits is more than enough before you either need to dodge, run away, or get ready to block.

In Phase 2, the boss will initiate some electricity attacks. You should avoid getting hit by these as much as possible because it will make you weaker if you are electrocuted. The effects wear off, but avoid it anyways.

Scrapped Watchman Phase 2 attacks

You will pretty much employ similar techniques in this phase as you did in Phase 1 where you perfect block and then hit two times. You will be able to stagger this enemy in this phase, but you need to be wary of that grabbing attack I mentioned earlier in this post.

Use downtimes to heal and run away from red attacks in this phase as much as you can. Unless you’re very good at the perfect block mechanic, you’ll struggle here.

Fable arts also come in handy, so use them!

Using the Specter

I recommend that once you know how to fight the boss, summon a Specter. He will take out quite a lot of health and draw the attention away from you. This way, you can take the rear and just keep hitting the Scrapped Watchman as many times as you can.

This will allow you to deplete his health faster and conserve your own health so that you don’t need to use many Pulse Cells early on in the fight.

Scrapped Watchman vs Specter

The Specter will likely die at some point, so this is why I say you should know the attack patterns well. Once the Specter dies, you’ll need to be ready to take over the boss fight fully.

Scrapped Watchman Rewards

Once you’re done and you’ve killed the Scrapped Watchman you will get: Quartz, the Broken Hero’s Ergo, and the Core, which will allow you to use the P-Organ. To activate the P-Organ, you’ll need to head back to Hotel Krat and talk to Geppetto.

You also get access to a Stargazer in Krat City Hall.
