Google News has a new look

Google News is now 20 years old and has upgraded its design once again, with an update bringing a new interface. Google News is also placing a greater emphasis on local and personalized content.

The biggest, most noticeable change with the new interface is that news categories–world, US, technology, etc…–have moved from the left to the top of the screen. Additionally, the new design seems more like a traditional newspaper would, but in a digital form, of course. Google has also stated that they’ve expanded their “Fact Check” section.

In a statement, Google said: “This change is just the latest way we’re bringing local news to users around the world. Last year, we expanded a feature on Google Search so readers around the world can now see a carousel of local news stories when Google finds local news coverage relevant to their query. This helps them easily find stories from local news publishers.”

There is also a great level of customizability with the new interface, allowing users to customize the order in which selected topics appear on the front page.

It’s definitely a change that we at The DZSH Group are enjoying so far.
