Google has announced that it is bringing new AI-powered features for its Search, Maps, and Lens apps. This comes just after Microsoft rolled out a new version of its Bing search engine with AI capabilities as well. The new version of Bing has brought about a powerful enemy to Google’s dominant search engine.

The first feature will allow you to “search your screen,” which will basically search the internet for more information about photos and videos on your screen.

Google is also rolling out a multisearch feature globally. The option will allow you to take a picture of something like a green chair and then type in “blue” to find that same chair available online for sale in the color blue.

You can also use the AI-powered search engine to find different shapes of objects. If you want to find a particular furniture piece in a different shape, you can take a picture of it and then type the shape you want to see if the table has another version of it.

Google Maps is also getting new features like the immersive view option. This will basically tell you how crowded a certain place is and it will use an AI technique called neural radiance fields (NeRF). It creates 3D representations of locations to help you get an idea of what they’ll look like during a certain time of the day.

Google Translate is also getting some new AI features. It will be able to recognize context when translating something into a different language. For instance, the world “novel” can refer to something new or a book. With the new AI feature, Google Translate will be able to detect which version of the word you’re using based off of the context of the sentence.

Google is Rivaling Microsoft

Google’s new AI updates is a clear show of force against Microsoft, which owns about a 49% stake in OpenAI. OpenAI has been responsible for the latest AI craze: ChatGPT.

Microsoft recently implemented new AI features to its Bing search engine, which has been recently lagging behind Google. The new AI features are powered by a more powerful version of ChatGPT.

Still, it will take some time before we can definitively say that Microsoft’s Bing could destroy Google in the search engine wars. Google also recently announced its own rival to ChatGPT called Bard, saying that it will be able to come to its search products in the future.

Who knows what’s next in the AI race? We’ll just have to wait and see.
