Ezra Miller, star of The Flash, has pleaded not guilty to felony burglary charges. If Miller is convicted, however, they face a maximum prison sentence of 26 years and over $2,000 in fines.
In a report by Deadline, Miller was charged in Vermont and appeared remotely on October 17 for a session in the criminal division of the Superior Court. The charges Miller is facing potential jail time for stems from an incident that took place on August 7 in Vermont where Miller allegedly stole three bottles of liquor from the pantry of a private home.
Miller’s representative stated that the home was of Miller’s childhood friend and that the actor believed they were able to enter the home to obtain some rice wine as they were cooking with their mother. The representative added that Miller “did not realize the friend didn’t want to be friends anymore.”
On Monday, a court order told Miller to stay away from the owner of the home as well as another Vermont resident. The next hearing is scheduled for January 13, 2023.
Miller’s attorney, Lisa B. Shelkrot, said that “Ezra would like to acknowledge the love and support they have received from their family and friends, who continue to be a vital presence in their ongoing mental health.”
This is just only one out of the many legal issues Miller has ran into. Allegations against the actor include incidents in Hawaii, Massachusetts, and North Dakota. Miller has been accused of manipulating, intimidating, and endangering people along with disorderly conduct, throwing a chair at a woman, grabbing a woman by the throat, grooming minors, and even more.
Some reports seemed to allege that Miller would likely not keep their role as The Flash in future DC films, but other reports show that Miller is back on set for reshoots of The Flash following an apology for their recent behavior.
“Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment,” Miller said. “I want to apologize to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behavior. I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life.”
The Flash is set to be released in theaters on June 23, 2023.
