COVID-19 has canceled all in-person events at E3; no plans seem to exist for a digital show yet.

E3 is certainly one of the biggest names in the gaming world. New video games are revealed from major companies around the world, including Ubisoft, Activision, and others. It’s always something people anticipate in order to see trailers for upcoming projects, updates, and information.

However, with the omicron variant spreading COVID-19 in epic proportions, E3 has finally decided to cancel its in-person events. In 2021, E3 had to move to a remote show due to the pandemic as well. Although the conference is still months away, companies are reserving spots and signing up. E3’s announcement did not mention a confirmed online-only event. However, considering last year’s online event, it’s most likely that this will be happening again.

Although CES 2022 still occurred in-person, there was a lot of criticism surrounding the decision. Omicron has proven to be highly contagious in comparison to the previous Delta variant. It is highly likely that in-person events can turn into superspreaders now more than ever before.

E3 said:

“We remain incredibly excited about the future of E3 and look forward to announcing more details soon.”

We’ll just have to wait and see how this whole thing plays out.
