Although it’s not a new story that Bryce Dallas Howard was paid less than co-star Chris Pratt for her role in Jurassic World, it seems that the disparity between the two was much larger than initially reported.
Back in 2018, Variety reported that Howard made $8 million for the 2018 film, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, while Chris Pratt made $10 million. The two shared equal billing and screen time.
In a new interview with Insider, Howard stated that “the reports were so interesting because I was paid so much less than the reports even said, so much less. When I started negotiating for Jurassic, it was 2014, and it was a different world, and I was at a great disadvantage. And, unfortunately, you ahve to sign up for three movies, and so your deals are set.”
Howard also added that Chris Pratt helped her fight for equal pay.
“What I wills ay is that Chris and I have discussed it, and whenever there was an opportunity to move the needle on stuff that hadn’t already been negotiated, like a game or a ride, he literally told me: ‘You guys don’t even have to do anything. I’m going to do all the negotiating. We’re going to be paid the same, and you don’t have to think about this, Bryce.
“And I love him so much for doing that. I really do, because I’ve been paid more for those kinds of things than I ever was for the movie.”
Pay gaps in Hollywood have been in the news many times before, with many female stars bringing to light the disparity between them and their male co-stars when it comes to pay. Ellen Pompeo (Grey’s Anatomy) and Michelle Williams (All the Money in the World), have opened up about how much less they earned for their roles.
