Apparently, Baldur’s Gate 3 is going to be quite an ambitious game, especially when it comes to the number of endings you’ll be able to get. Fextralife found out that there are apparently 17,000 variations for the ending of Baldur’s Gate 3. Needless to say, that’s not a number I ever expected to write in regards to a video game’s ending.
According to Fextralife, their team spoke with Chrystal Ding, who told them about the 17,000 ending variations. The director of publishing at Larian Studios (BG3’s developer) also tweeted out: “Oh no they found the 17,000 number.” So, yeah, it looks like it’s as official as can be.
Now, let’s be very clear about this: 17,000 does not mean that there are literally 17,000 endings to the game. Rather, Baldur’s Gate 3 will have 17,000 variations of the ending. These changes can be really small or really large. So, who knows how that will actually apply.
Baldur’s Gate 3 will reportedly take anywhere from 75 to 100 hours to complete. However, to totally finish the game, you’ll likely need around 200 hours of playtime. Obviously, this proves that Baldur’s Gate 3 is going to be a huge game. Tt reportedly also has more “cinematic dialogue” than “three times all three Lord of the Rings novels combined.”
There are 174 hours of cinematics in Baldur’s Gate 3 as well, so clearly, there’s a lot of content to get through in this game.
Baldur’s Gate 3 officially releases on August 3 for PC. The PS5 edition is set for release on September 6. Currently, there is no Xbox Series X/S version of Baldur’s Gate 3. It could happen sometime in the future once the developer is satisfied with the game’s performance on Xbox. This may come as a disappointment to lots of Xbox users though.
