Hollywood star Robert De Niro’s newest movie may be filmed in Istanbul, as the actor likened it to New York City.
The actor, while making an inspection at his eatery in the city, said that he’d like to produce a movie there sometime. He told reporters: “For New York, some say ‘There are millions of people here and millions of life stories to be shot on the silver screen.’ It is the same for Istanbul.”
“I came here 20 years ago. Very interesting city connecting continents. It was huge. I remember taking a cab. We went and went, the roads did not seem to end,” said de Niro, to which he added: “While flying, I looked down from the plane. The city’s got bigger.”
The actor came during a business trip alongside Japanese chef Nobu Matushisa and producer Meri Teper on June 26. This was his first time being there since 1994, when he opened the Nobu restaurant. There are now two in Turkey, of 51 around the world.
