American Horror Story star Emma Roberts has been casted into a role in Marvel’s upcoming film Madame Web, directed by S.J. Clarkson.
The main character, Madame Web, is played by Dakota Johnson, while other big names such as Sydney Sweeney and Isabela Merced are part of the cast as well.
Madame Web, in the Marvel comics, is depicted as an old woman on a spider web-like life support system due to her myasthenia gravis. As a result of this comic-readers never actually got to see Madame Web battle any villains, an element which is sure to change in the films.
Due to the character’s psychic powers however, Sony may also use her character as a sort of Doctor Strange. The specific details are currently unknown however.
This will be Roberts first Marvel film in her acting career. The actress just recently finished her role in Maybe I do and is known for her past roles in American Horror Story and American Horro Story: 1984.
Sony is likely to see more success with their Marvel franchise as time continues, seeing as Venom: Let There Be Carnage made the company over $500 million in worldwide sales. Spider-Man: No Way Home made around $1.85 billion, becoming 2021’s biggest movie.
Deadline Hollywood was the first to report on Roberts’ casting.
