Disney hopes to begin working on a new Planet of The Apes trilogy following Wes Ball’s newest film.

The company’s newest film, another installment in the decades-long Planet of The Apes series, may be the start to a new trilogy of movies. Planet of the Apes originated in the 1960’s, however it would see a reboot in the mid 2000’s after 20th-Centruy Fox would revitalize it.

The 2010s trilogy starred Andy Serkis as the main role Caesar, and it became a massive success worldwide, earning $1.6 billion across the three films. Following Disney’s acquisition of Fox in 2019, they had begun making plans to bring back the trilogy, and we could be seeing them role into effect sometime soon.

The movie plans to continue on the story rather than redo it. Director Wes Ball has begun working on the film, and the studio plans to begin filming later this year as soon as the script’s complete.

Unfortunatley due to Ball’s recent commitment to the fourth Planet of The Apes film, he had to leave behind his work on Paramount’s upcoming film Harbinger. As such, Disney has gone full-force on completing their new film script and casting phase.

Not many details about the film are known as of now, including its release date and cast. However the chance of Disney beginning a new trilogy are very high, seeing how well the reboot did back in the 2010’s. The new film will either be released in 2023 or 2024, depending on how much work it requires to output.
