Tim Miller is helping reshoot Borderlands scenes for Eli Roth

Rumors recently tried to assert that Deadpool‘s Tim Miller replaced Eli Roth as director of the upcoming Borderlands film. It looks like that’s not the case; rather, Miller is taking care of some reshoots while Roth starts work on another project.

In a report by Deadline, Roth had to start work on a new horror film titled Thanksgiving. The horror film is based on a mock trailer Roth had previously made for Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez’s Grindhouse movie.

Roth is not being removed or fired from the Borderlands film. He is simply passing on some of the work to Tim Miller while he works on the new project. Deadline stated that the transfer was “amicable.”

Thanksgiving debuted back in 2007 and teased a fake movie about a slasher terrorizing a Massachusetts town that loves Thanksgiving. It quickly rose to popularity and there were plans to make the fake movie a reality. 15 years later, fans are still waiting.

In regards to the Borderlands adaptation, the cast is currently known to feature Jack Black as Claptrap, Cate Blanchett as Lilith, Jamie Lee Curtis as Dr. Patricia Tannis, and Kevin Hart as Roland.

The Borderlands movie is being directed by Eli Roth, who is penning the script alongside Craig Mazin (The Last of Us). The story is set to be about Lilith and her journey to return to the planet of Pandora to recover the missing daughter of “the universe’s most powerful S.O.B., Atlas.”

As a franchise, Borderlands has sold over 75 million copies as of July 2022 according to 2K. 2012’s Borderlands 2 is its highest-selling title with over 26 million copies sold alone. Borderlands 3 from 2019 is the fastest-selling Borderlands thus far, with over 15 million copies sold.
