The Daily Show will be using guest hosts until a replacement is found for Trevor Noah, according to a report by Deadline.
The Daily Show may be having a duo or trio take over, but until then, guest hosts will be used to fill in after Trevor Noah announced his exit the other month. Noah leaves the show in just a few days.
It looks currently like Chelsea Handler, Kal Penn, Al Franken, Sarah Silverman, Leslie Jones, Wanda Sykes, D.L. Hughley, John Leguizamo, Marlon Wayans and Hasan Minhaj will be filling the spot in the meantime.
The guest hosts for The Daily Show have had runs as late-night hosts in the past. Handler recently filled in for Jimmy Kimmel over the summer. Penn spearheaded Kal Penn Approves This Message and Sarah Silverman recently hosted I Love You America with Sarah Silverman. Franken and Jones have also had numerous appearances on Saturday Night Live.
When is Trevor Noah leaving The Daily Show?
Trevor Noah will be officially leaving The Daily Show on December 8 after being host for seven years. He had originally taken over after Jon Stewart in 2015. At the time, he had just a few appearances on The Tonight Show and The Late Show with David Letterman.
The Daily Show will return on December 17 with most of the guest hosts taking about a week at a time. The show is currently looking for a permanent host or multiple hosts and is expecting to find one by fall 2023.
For now, no information has been given on who will replace Noah, but it looks like correspondents Jordan Klepper, Roy Wood Jr., and Desi Lydic are under consideration.
