Nosferatu

It’s now confirmed that Robert Egger’s upcoming film, Nosferatu, will be casting Bill Skarsgard and Lily-Rose Depp as main characters.

As reported on by Deadline, the two actors have plans to join the film project, with the latter still in talks.

The movie will be the first remake of the 1922 film and will take place in the 1800s. It’ll tell the story of a young woman living in the original film’s setting, the fictional city of Wisborg, Germany, who becomes an obsession for Coutn Orlok, also known as Nosferatu.

The film has actually been in development for over 7 years now and has become one of Eggers’ passion projects as a director. Back in 2019 the project also became a reality, with the two roles being played by Harry Styles and Anya Taylor-Joy, but that was cancelled.

“After The Northman, Eggers started looking at other projects but always had his eye on coming back to the gothic tale,” Deadline stated. As soon as the movie passed from Studio 9 to Focus however, it became Eggers’ next confirmed project.

According to reports Skarsgard has been their number one choice for an actor following the situation with Styles. The role originally held for Taylor-Joy may be passed down to Depp now as well.

Skarsgard is known for his role in Stephen King’s It, both chapters one and two, which was a horrifying role, meaning he’s no stranger to horror. He most recently starred in this year’s newest horror film Barbarian.
