Star Trek

Marvel’s newest Fantastic Four film has seen some arising issues as of lately when the movie lost its director, Jon Watts. However recent news has revealed that the movie got a new director, Matt Shakman, who worked on WandaVision.

While this is great news for Marvel fans it’s the opposite for Star Trek ones, who have to wait for a delayed film now.

Shakman’s Star Trek film, which he has been working on since July of last year, is now being delayed due to his new commitment to Marvel studios, as reported by the Hollywood Reporter. According to them, Shakman stepped away from the Star Trek project due to scheduling issues, and is now working for Marvel.

Matt Shakman is an incredibly talented filmmaker, and we regret the timing didn’t align for him to direct our upcoming Star Trek film. We are grateful for his many contributions, are excited about the creative vision of this next chapter and look forward to bringing it to audiences all around world.

The Star Trek film was originally going to be planned for release on December 22nd of next year, however Paramount is now avoiding announcing the date. The new Marvel film won’t be out until November of 2024 however it has been said to be a major part of the studios’ newest plans. Shakman stated that had he not dropped Star Trek he’d have to work on both films at the same time. The director has only produced a single film in his career, 2014’s Cut Back.

Star Trek’s newest movie will serve as a sequel to Star Trek Beyond, which premiered in cinemas back in 2016. Fans will be seeing their favorite characters back on screen yet again, as the new film will include names like Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, John Cho, and Karl Urban. Paramount has begun looking for a new director meaning the film will most likely have to delay their original plans.
