Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, has confirmed that Meta’s next VR headset will launch in October. Speaking in an episode of Joe Rogan’s podcast, Zuckerberg indicated that the device will likely launch around the company’s annual Connect event.

“For the next device that’s coming in October, there’s a few big features,” Zuckerberg said. He described how there would be eye and facial tracking, giving users some type of “eye contact in virtual reality.” He also said that the facial tracking would “translate in real time to your avatar.”

The VR headset has been codenamed Project Cambria. It’s set to have a high-resolution color screen, internal sensors for the eye tracking, and sophisticated augmented reality passthrough. Bloomberg reported a month ago that the headset could be called the Meta Quest Pro.

Project Cambria is also supposed to be “significantly” more expensive than the current Quest model, which recently saw a price hike of $100.
