Here's how you can start playing GTA V roleplay today

Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V) is one of the most popular video games to-date. It’s received massive praise from fans all over the world and is consistently one of the most played games out there. GTA V provides players the chance to engage online with other players or go through a solo-experience with its campaign. However, there is also another piece in GTA V that is even better at enhancing the experience: GTA V roleplay.

What is GTA V Roleplay?

First, roleplay is basically the idea that you pretend to be somebody/something else in order to engage in an interaction with others. Remember when you used to play pretend with your friends? It’s almost like a more advanced version of that when you roleplay.

In respect to GTA V, roleplay is a mod that you can install on PC. It allows for a more intensive level of immersion, as you can now engage with other players and really almost live another life inside this server.

Unfortunately, GTA V roleplay is not available for console players. It requires modding, which is something that can only be done on a PC.

There are people who host roleplay (RP for short) servers and allow other users to interact and engage in this server. Some servers are lax and don’t enforce many rules. Other servers are very strict and want to keep the realism cranked on high.

Some servers will even require you to submit a well-written application. Just make sure to check the requirements of a server before you join.

How to Start Playing GTA V Roleplay?

The process to joining a server isn’t really that straight-forward. Modding any video game can seem a bit confusing, but this guide should help provide a bit more context on how you can do it.

You will need to run a third-party client. One of the most popular and well-known clients is FiveM. The steps to downloading and installing FiveM are pretty straight-forward. Just head over to their website and do the following:

  1. Firstly, disable any antivirus software before you attempt to download. Once installed, add FiveM to the whitelist/exclusion list of your antivirus software.
  2. Make sure you are running the latest version of GTA 5.
  3. Run FiveM.exe.
  4. From your Windows start menu, start FiveM.

Now, onto how you can join an actual server.

How to Join a GTA V Roleplay Server

There are going to be a lot of options for you to choose from. Some servers will allow you to join without any extra steps or applications. However, these servers are typically not the ones most people want. They can get boring and there isn’t much cohesion.

Whitelist servers that are high-level are the most desirable, but they’re also the most difficult to get into. Typically, these servers will be managed pretty intensely and will require you to sign up and apply to join.

Some servers will require you to prove yourself in a bit of a trial. If you’re a streamer or content creator, you might find it easier to get into some servers since you’ve already established your presence on the internet.

Don’t be discouraged if it takes some time to get into a roleplay server on GTA V. It’s not a very easy process to get accepted. Some of the most popular servers are backed up or aren’t taking applications due to the sheer volume they’ve been receiving. However, with a bit of patience, you’ll be able to get in.

What is the Best GTA V Roleplay Server?

There are quite a few really good ones:

  • NoPixel: The biggest, but also hard to get into and backed up due to the number of received applications.
  • GTA World
  • Eclipse RP
  • MafiaCity
