Ah, oily skin. How so many people struggle with you daily. And it’s also a struggle to find the proper moisturizer. So many brands out there put oils in their moisturizers, making the oily skin issue even worse, clogging pores and causing those nasty breakouts of pimples. However, this cosmetics company from Japan called Tatcha has just the right moisturizer (The Water Cream) for those who have issues with oily skin.

Why water-based creams?

For people with oily skin, using oil-based moisturizer is a sure-fire way to add onto the problem. Oils will end up clogging the pores. In reality, what you want to do is use oil-free items to prevent this clogging from happening.

Water-based moisturizers and related products are great, because they don’t use oils. Instead, the water allows for a rehydration of the skin without that nasty oil buildup.

The Facts

Tatcha’s The Water Cream is one of my personal favorite products of all time. I’ve used plenty of moisturizers before, but this brand just felt silky and perfect for my skin. It also has a level of anti-aging in it to make your skin look youthful, but in a more natural way.

Tatcha also says that The Water Cream is cruelty-free and made for people who have more sensitive skin. I can attest that I had never experienced any irritation from this moisturizer. In fact, it aided my skin in feeling significantly better than before.

According to Tatcha, their Water Cream:

…provides nutrient-rich, balanced hydration with the unique water-burst that breaks upon application to deliver nourishment without leaving skin sticky or greasy. It clarifies and refines skin with pure, powerful Japanese botanicals: Japanese wild rose visibly tightens pores and smooths skin texture; Japanese leopard lily helps control excess oil and purify skin by supporting natural skin turnover; and hadasei-3—an anti-aging trinity of green tea, rice, and algae—restores healthy-looking radiance. The formula imparts a subtle, shine-free glow with a touch of 23-karat gold.

It’s a clean-certified product at Sephora–one of the largest cosmetics stores in the world. So, for anyone who truly wants to feel better using their products, they certainly don’t have to worry when it comes to Tatcha’s The Water Cream.

The Packaging

One of the things I think says a lot about a company is how much effort they put into their packaging. I know this may seem strange, but if a company values its products, its presentation will also be top-tier.

In fact, one of the reasons I wanted to try Tatcha’s The Water Cream was because of its very unique and very eye-appealing packaging. The exterior is this bright and beautiful turquoise color. Additionally, it comes with a very cool “spoon” to help you apply the moisturizer to your face. I will say that the spoon was a nice touch.

My Experience

I’ve struggled with oily skin for years and I had no clue how much of a difference a water-based cream would make. However, after using Tatcha’s products, I’ve felt nothing but happy with the results.

Although the package may seem a bit small, in fact, a little goes a very long way. You really don’t need to apply too much to get the right feeling on your face. And in my eyes, it’s a really nice product. I’ve never enjoyed the way a moisturizer feels on my skin the way this one does.

I really would recommend The Water Cream any day to anyone, because it’s not even just for people with oily skin. People with dry or normal skin may find that this product is perfect for them as well. Whatever the case is, you definitely need to try it for yourself.
