Rogue One co-writer Tony Gilroy is the name behind Andor, it being Disney+’s fourth live action series now. The first three, The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Obi-Wan Kenobi, all received high praise and viewership rates.
Rogue One was the first film to spin off the franchise’s main storyline, swiftly being followed by Solo: A Star Wars Story. Although the latter flopped at the Box Office, the former did remarkably well, earning a whopping $1 billion during its run at theaters.
The movies director, Gareth Edwards, based the movie on an original idea by John Knoll. Gilroy and Chris Weitz co-wrote the film, and it was nominated for two academy awards. It was also the year’s second-highest grossing movie.
