Sony announced a new lineup of films coming out over the next two years this week on Friday, which included some long-awaited titles.
Unfortunatley the studio had to move around other post-production projects to try and make way for the new ones, although none of their 2022 releases have been affected by this.
Of the new films announced, Karate Kid will be coming to theaters on June 7, 2024, although no other details about the cast, director, or storyline have been revealed. A True Haunting film will be coming in January of 2023, although it’s currently unnamed. The first week of January has always been a good one for Sony, when they launched Escape Room back in 2019.
In 2023 we’ll also be seeing the next film in the Searching franchise, called Missing, which is coming out in late February. The movie will star Nia Long and Storm Reid.
The other two films on Universal studios’ schedule are Cocaine Bear and Jesus Revolution, the latter by Lionsgate. 65, an astronaut-themed sci-fi film starring Adam Driver, will also be coming to theaters in 2023 on March 10, versus its original release date of April 28, while Haunted Mansion has been moved to August 11 instead of March 10.
Marvel’s Madame Web, a Spider-Man spinoff film will be coming to Imax cinemas on February 16 of 2024 versus October 6 of 2023, a massive gap delay. Another unnamed Marvel movie has been held off from February 16 of 2024 to September 6 as well.
A Sony Garfield film will also be coming out in 2024, on May 24 to be specific. It has been delayed from February 16 of that year, and will star Chris Pratt as Garfield. That same Memorial Day weekend will also see the release of Furiosa, by Warner Bros, and IF, a Paramount film starring John Krasinski and Ryan Reynolds.
