The Mandalorian is one of Disney+’s most popular shows, as well as one of their most well-received Star Wars releases over the past few years.
As things stand the show’s next season, season 3, is currently in post-production development, with many details still being unknown. In fact, the footage for the trailer revealed during a Star Wars celebration isn’t even online yet.
However, based off of descriptions and explanations released online, we can establish a makeshift storyline for the time being that sort of goes like this:
The Mandalorian, Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) reunites with Grogu, who we saw training with Luke Skywalker during Boba Fett, and goes to battle against Bo-Katan (Katee Sackhoff) over the mystic Darksaber.
Both actors revealed crucial details in regards to their characters’ development across the season during an interview with Total Film Magazine. According to trailer footage, it appears as though Pascal’s character will be, at some point, working alongside a group of other Mandalorians. Pascal responded to a question about this:
“If he is stepping into a leadership position, he’s reluctant to do so. I don’t think that there’s anything more interesting than a character being forced into discovering what they’re capable of, and who they are. That part has been really, really fun. Also, from my point of view, there’s so many searchable ways to find the tonality of that. I just tried to achieve the subtleties of that kind of character development.”
Sackhoff will be having some character changes throughout the season as well. She too responded to questions about scenes from the trailer where her character is interacting with Grogu, or “Baby Yoda.”
“It’s funny because you always have to think about how you’re interacting with Grogu. It’s so specific, you have to make sure that you’re not doing anything that says something different. Every single thing, every single interaction with Grogu is very, very thought out.”
Unfortunatley however there is still a full 6 months before the new season will begin to arrive on Disney+, which will be around February of 2023, according to Disney. We’ll be learning more and more about the show as time goes on, and we’re definitely excited!
Star Wars’ latest show, Andor, is coming to Disney+ on August 31st.
