A new hero called Ramattra is coming to Overwatch 2, Blizzard revealed.

In the lore, Ramattra is the leader of the organization Null Sector. Like Zenyatta, Ramattra is a Shambli monk who does not see that peacefully advocating for Omnic rights is viable and has taken a more “pragamatic angle.”

In the Overwatch blog, Blizzard wrote: “Originally a war machine, Ramattra shed his munitions for a shield to protect his people by promoting peace and tranquility. However, Ramattra’s story is one of hardships, trauma, and a magnified view of humanity’s harsh realities.”

Blizzard has shown a cinematic trailer that shows Ramattra’s backstory and origins. However, IGN did speak with Overwatch 2 hero designer Alec Dawson, who revealed more about Ramattra:

“He does have two forms. He has an Omnic form and his Nemesis form. Part of the skill we’re testing is when to switch between those two forms. Because the Omnic form, you’re playing this poke game, you’re protecting your team, a little bit at range. And then the Nemesis form you’re rushing down the enemies, you’re charging in there and you have these punches.”

Ramattra is now the fourth hero to be introduced to Overwatch 2 since it launched, alongside Sojourn, Junker Queen, and Kiriko.
